An archive and historical write-up of Portland’s long-lost, World War II-era, Kaiser shipyard workers zine. Originals now reside at Oregon Historical Society, Library Accession RL2025-091.
Warning: The Finger by its nature was a “patriotic” publication, and that sometimes took the form of a nationalism which included racist characterizations and depictions of Japan and Japanese-Americans, as well as racist characterizations and depictions of Africa and people of African descent. These depictions have not been expurgated here, although I reserve the right to reverse that decision.
